• At the American Bar Association’s second session of its “New Lawyer 101” program, Mitch Orpett served as a faculty member on May 23, 2007. The program provides recent law school graduates with the general skills required of all new attorneys regardless of their area of practice.

• In the face of a multi-million dollar demand from an ironworker who claimed he was struck by a five ton piece of precast concrete, Harlene Matyas recently secured a not-guilty jury verdict for the firm’s client, a large construction company. Harlene argued that the plaintiff’s version of the events did not concur with the actual work performed on site that day.

• The IDC Insurance Law Committee recently selected David Lewin to serve as co-chairman. In this capacity, David oversees publication of the IDC Quarterly and coordinates meetings and other forums for discussion of insurance coverage law in Illinois.
