• Steve Weiss recently obtained summary judgment on behalf of a multi-national ladder manufacturer in two separate product liability cases. In both cases, summary judgment followed Steve’s successful motions to bar the plaintiffs’ engineering experts from offering testimony at trial. On March 7, 2006 Steve spoke at a Chicago Bar Association seminar. His presentation focused on the rules of discovery from the defendant’s perspective.

• Panos Topalis and Larry Scanlon secured a not-guilty verdict in favor of the firm’s client, an international freight transportation company that was sued when one of its independent contractor drivers struck a pedestrian. Panos and Larry successfully argued that the driver’s status as an independent contractor insulated the company from liability for the incident.

• Jennifer Kay was among the featured speakers in Assurance Agency’s 2006 seminar series. On November 2, Jennifer presented guidance on how to avoid employee retaliation claims at Assurance Agency’s Schaumburg, Illinois offices.
