Jim McConkey has undertaken a wide range of litigation matters and has served as lead counsel in evidentiary hearings, bench and jury trials and appeals. His current practice focuses on the defense of tort claims involving catastrophic injuries, including the defense of co
nstruction, premises liability and product liability actions, subrogation/lien recovery actions, and long-term care/Nursing Home Care Act claims against skilled nursing facilities.
Mr. McConkey’s background includes broad experience handling commercial litigation matters, including serving as lead counsel in individual and putative class action lawsuits involving claimed violations of state and federal laws affecting consumer lending, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Gramm Leach Bliley Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Truth in Lending Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and state debt collection statutes. Mr. McConkey also has broad experience handling traditional commercial litigation matters, including contract, common law and statutory consumer fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, shareholder derivative claims, claims premised upon the Illinois Commercial Code, and business divorces.
In a prior life, Mr. McConkey was a full-ride scholarship student athlete who played Division I basketball at Davidson College, was team captain and played in the NCAA “March Madness” tournament.
